When choosing a ventilated dry wet bulb thermometer, these 4 parameters must be considered!
Date: 2025-10-23Read: 8
Ventilation dry wet bulb thermometer is a high-precision instrument for measuring air temperature and humidity, widely used in fields with strict environmental data requirements such as meteorological observation, agricultural greenhouses, laboratories, archives, HVAC system debugging, etc. Compared with ordinary electronic temperature and humidity meters, it ensures stable temperature measurement environment through forced ventilation, and the measurement results are more accurate and reliable. However, there are various types of ventilated dry wet bulb thermometers on the market with uneven performance, and when choosing, one should not only consider price or appearance. To choose truly professional, durable, and accurate measuring equipment, the following four key parameters must be given special attention.
1、 Ventilation speed:
Ventilation dry wet bulb thermometerThe core principle is to use a fan to force air to flow through dry and wet bulb temperature sensors at a constant speed, eliminating environmental airflow interference and ensuring sufficient heat exchange. According to national standards, the effective ventilation speed should reach 2.5-4.0 m/s. If the wind speed is too low and the wet bulb evaporation is not sufficient, it will lead to high humidity measurement; Unstable or unevenly distributed wind speeds can affect repeatability and accuracy. Therefore, when choosing, priority should be given to products that use high-quality fans, have well-designed air ducts, and can maintain stable wind speeds, especially instruments with Assmann structures, which usually have better ventilation performance.
2、 Accuracy and Material of Temperature Sensor
Both dry bulb and wet bulb rely on temperature sensors (usually precision glass thermometers or platinum resistors) for measurement. The measurement accuracy directly affects the final humidity calculation results. General professional level instruments require temperature measurement accuracy between ± 0.1 ℃ and ± 0.2 ℃. Meanwhile, sensor material is also crucial - high-quality products often use silver plated glass thermometers or stainless steel protective sleeves, which have good radiation resistance, corrosion resistance, and long-term stability, avoiding reading drift caused by sun exposure or environmental corrosion.
3、 Quality and water supply method of wet ball gauze
The accuracy of wet bulb temperature depends on the gauze being fully wetted and evaporating normally. Therefore, the material of the gauze should be selected as highly absorbent degreased gauze and regularly replaced to prevent blockage or contamination. Meanwhile, pay attention to the design of the water storage device: high-quality instruments are equipped with independent water cups or capillary water supply systems to ensure that the wet bulb remains continuously moist. If there is insufficient water supply or improper installation of gauze, it will result in a higher wet bulb temperature and a lower calculated relative humidity.

4、 Protection design and adaptability to usage environment
Ventilation dry wet bulb thermometers are commonly used outdoors or in complex environments, so radiation protection, dust prevention, and shock resistance design cannot be ignored. The ideal product should be equipped with double-layer radiation shielding tubes (to reduce the impact of direct sunlight), windproof covers, and portable protective boxes. In addition, the working temperature range, power supply mode (battery life), and portability are also important considerations in practical use.
In summary, choosingVentilation dry wet bulb thermometerDon't just look at the price or appearance. It is essential to pay attention to the four core parameters of ventilation speed, sensor accuracy, wet bulb water supply system, and protective design in order to ensure stable and reliable measurement data and truly realize its professional value in scientific research, meteorology, or industrial applications.
