2) Compared to the full flow type, the split flow type only has a portion of the measured fluid flowing through the flow detection part such as the float. The diversion type float flowmeter is composed of a standard orifice plate (or averaging tube) loaded on the main pipeline and a smaller caliber float flowmeter. It is suitable for larger caliber flow rates with a diameter greater than 200mm and places where local indication is required, with a low price. There are two types of flow meters in terms of structure: separated type and integrated type.
The integrated instrument assembles the orifice plate and float flowmeter on the short pipe section and directly installs them onto the pipeline to be tested, making installation convenient. There are two types of structures suitable for horizontal and vertical pipelines, but both can only be installed in places that are convenient for reading instrument readings. The diameter of the main pipeline is usually 50-300mm, the aperture ratio (β) of the orifice plate is between 0.3-0.7, the differential pressure is between 0.6-100KPa, and the diameter of the float flowmeter is 10-25mm.
The selection of flow velocity for the split flow type float flowmeter can be higher than that of the full flow type, and the liquid flow velocity can reach 2.5-3m/s, even up to 4-5m/s. Due to the limited flow orifice plate placed in the diversion pipe, it compensates for the non-linear relationship between the main orifice plate flow rate and the square root of the differential pressure. The flow indication is basically linear with a wide range, generally 10:1. The degree is 2.5% -4% FS.
