The Syndicat Mixte de Traitement et Valorisation des D é chets has granted Valor'Caux a public service concession to establish and operate the E'Caux P ô le waste treatment plant. Valor'Caux is a subsidiary of Veolia's waste recycling and regeneration division. The company is located in the city of Bramato in the Seine department of France.

E7aux P ô le has built a new set of methane and composting equipment. This device is used to convert or recycle organic waste into biogas and agricultural fertilizers. The biogas obtained from waste treatment and methane conversion facilities is used for combined heat and power (CHP):

Electricity, resold to EDF grid

Process thermal energy:

-Provide evaporators for processing liquid waste products

-Reheat the leachate re injected into the methane conversion channel to optimize the degradation process

Measurement requirements

In this facility, it is necessary to measure the biogas production from waste treatment and biogas plants, as well as the amount of biogas used by 400 and 200 kW generators. The measurement results must reflect the utilization rate of biogas. If the utilization rate is higher than 75%, the customer can apply for a tax refund (general tax levied on polluting activities). Measuring the consumption of cogeneration generators is equally important - it involves applying for cogeneration bonuses. This is a commercial transaction and an explanation of the overall uncertainty calculation must be provided. EDF authorizes a third-party supervisory agency to verify this. For customers, flow meters must have calibration certificates and annual calibration records upon delivery.

Cologne Solution

At the output end of its biogas digester, aOPTISONIC 7300 C ultrasonic flowmeter.Temperature and pressure sensors are connected to the flow meter to calculate the standard flow rate for biogas production. When crude biogas leaves the biogas digester, it is rich in water, H2S, and particles.

The calculation results obtained by the customer are then verified for uncertainty by a third-party regulatory agency. The customer also signed an annual verification contract to be executed by the Cologne customer service department.
