1、 Classification of installation methods for water flow meters:
1. According to the installation position
Direct installation (pipeline type)
Applicable scenarios: Newly built pipeline systems or existing pipelines that can be decommissioned for renovation.
Features: The flowmeter is directly connected in series in the pipeline, without the need for additional brackets, and has high measurement accuracy.
Example: Electromagnetic flowmeter and ultrasonic flowmeter are installed on the main pipeline.
Pipe section installation (insert type)
Applicable scenarios: Large diameter pipelines, old pipelines that cannot be shut down.
Features: Insert the flowmeter into the pipeline through flange or threaded connection, reducing modifications to the original pipeline.
Example: Plug in electromagnetic flowmeter, wedge flowmeter.
Bypass installation
Applicable scenario: Continuous and uninterrupted traffic monitoring is required.
Features: By diverting a portion of the medium through a bypass pipe, online calibration or maintenance can be achieved.
Example: Electromagnetic flowmeter+bypass valve group, easy to clean or calibrate.
2. By sensor type
Contact installation (such as electromagnetic flowmeter)
Requirement: The sensor is in direct contact with the fluid, and it is necessary to ensure that the electrode is not covered by dirt.
Installation points:
The electrode axis is aligned with the direction of water flow to avoid vortex interference.
The inner wall of the pipeline is clean, without protrusions or rust.
Non contact installation (such as ultrasonic flowmeter)
Applicable scenarios: Corrosive media, high turbidity wastewater, or pipelines that are difficult to access.
Installation points:
Choose to install downstream or upstream to ensure the penetration of ultrasonic signals (usually requiring uniform pipeline material).
The external clamp probe needs to be coated with coupling agent and fixed with a bracket.
3. Layout according to flow direction and pipeline layout
horizontal installation
Applicable scenarios: Conventional pipeline layout for easy maintenance and reading.
Requirement: The sensor should be located at the top or side of the pipeline to avoid interference from sediment at the bottom.
vertical installation
Applicable scenarios: Space constraints or the need to prevent sedimentation and accumulation (such as sludge pipelines).
Requirement: Flow from bottom to top, ensuring full pipe and no bubbles.
tilt installation
Applicable scenarios: gas-liquid two-phase flow or wastewater with high solid content (such as industrial wastewater).
Function: Reduce the impact of bubble aggregation or solid settling on measurement.
Debugging and verification after installation
Zero point calibration:
Close the upstream valve and check if the zero output of the flowmeter is stable.
For electromagnetic flow meters, calibration is required after filling the pipeline with water and emptying it.
Range calibration:
Compare the actual flow rate with the instrument display value using standard containers or portable measuring tanks.
Temporary comparison using high-precision portable ultrasonic flowmeter.
Long term verification:
Record historical data and analyze sudden changes in flow rate (such as pump start stop and valve opening changes).
Regularly clean the sensors and check the aging of the seals.
