Why do gas stations need to install combustible gas detectors

Cause: The original clauses of the 2022 version of the industry standard A03010-2022 "Safety Regulations for Gas Station Operations", which stated that "mobile communication devices shall not be carried in gas stations" and "sound and light alarm devices for increasing combustible materials shall be installed in the refueling operation area", have been deleted. Allow customers to make payments using their mobile phones. When the on-site alarm sounds, the use of mobile communication devices and refueling related operations should be immediately stopped, and emergency response should be carried out according to the emergency plan. The design of combustible gas detection alarm should comply with the provisions of GB/T50493.

Before the implementation of the new regulations:

1. On site payment takes longer than mobile payment, with a payment time of about 3-5 minutes and low efficiency

2. Car owners or passengers using mobile phones in the car may pose potential risks to gas stations

After the implementation of the new regulations:

Mobile payment takes about 30 seconds to 1 minute, improving the service efficiency of gas stations and the overall refueling experience for car owners. The installation of combustible gas sound and light alarm devices has effectively strengthened the safety risk control of gas stations.

According to GBT 50493-2019 "Design Standard for Detection and Alarm of Combustible and Toxic Gases in Petrochemical Industry", the horizontal distance between combustible gas detectors and any release source within their coverage area should not exceed 10m, and the distance between toxic gases should not exceed 10m. The horizontal distance between any release source within the toxic gas detection detector and its coverage area should not exceed 4m.
