How to choose a temperature controlled aging room that suits your product?
Date: 2025-10-22Read: 0

Constant temperature aging roomIt is a professional testing equipment that accelerates product aging, verifies its stability and reliability by accurately controlling the temperature environment, simulating high temperatures or harsh conditions. It is widely used in fields such as electronics, automotive, aerospace, and biopharmaceuticals, and is a key link in improving product quality.

The following is a step-by-step and practical selection guide:

1、 Step 1: Clarify the core requirements - first understand "what you want to test and how to test"

This is the basis for selection, which directly determines all subsequent parameter matching. It is recommended to sort out from 5 dimensions:

1. Key information of the product itself

Product types and characteristics: electronic components, automotive electronics, batteries, plastics/rubber, medical equipment, etc.

Product size and weight: single product size, testing batch → determine the effective working room volume of the aging room; The total weight of the product determines the load-bearing capacity of the aging room floor.

Product heating situation: Single product heating power, total heating power → The manufacturer needs to calculate the "additional heat dissipation capacity".

2. Testing standards and temperature requirements

Temperature range: regular demand, wide temperature demand, * * high temperature → directly exclude equipment that does not meet the temperature range.

Temperature accuracy: Electronic components require ± 0.5 ℃ fluctuation and ± 2 ℃ uniformity; Ordinary plastics/hardware can be relaxed to ± 1 ℃ fluctuation and ± 3 ℃ uniformity.

Test mode: only constant temperature, temperature humidity composite, high and low temperature cycling.

Industry standards: It is necessary to clarify the standards that the product must comply with to ensure that the equipment parameters meet the standard requirements.

3. Test scale and efficiency

Batch testing requirements: small batch research and development, medium batch production, and large-scale production lines.

Testing time: Short term screening, long-term lifespan testing → Long term testing requires attention to equipment stability and energy consumption.

2、 Step 2: Match core technical parameters - do not blindly pursue "the higher the better"

According to the requirements of the first step, match the device parameters with specificity, focusing on "essential parameters" rather than redundant functions:

1、 Core functions and technical parameters

Temperature control capability

Range: The normal temperature range is from room temperature+5 ℃ to 85 ℃, and some models can be extended to -70 ℃~400 ℃.

Accuracy: Temperature fluctuation can reach ± 0.5 ℃, uniformity is ≤± 2 ℃, and precise control is achieved through PID algorithm and multi-stage heating/cooling system.

Heating rate: It usually takes 30 minutes to rise from room temperature to 50 ℃, and complex environments can support rapid temperature changes of 15 ℃/minute.

2. Structure and Capacity

Effective volume:=volume occupied by a single product x test batch x 1.2, to avoid uneven temperature field caused by "stuffing".

Structure type: desktop/vertical: suitable for small sample and laboratory research and development; Step in style: suitable for medium to large batch production and large-scale products; Customized workshop: suitable for large-scale production lines.

Material: Insulation board: Conventional products choose 50-75mm polyurethane board; High temperature selection of rock wool board;

Ground: Choose anti-static floor mats for ordinary products; Choose galvanized steel sheet for heavy-duty products; Choose explosion-proof patterned steel plate for battery testing.

3. Load adaptation capability

If the product heats up, the manufacturer needs to be provided with the "total heating power" and configured with "additional cooling capacity"; When testing multiple sets of products, it is necessary to support "zone temperature control".

3、 Step 3: Focus on Security and Compliance - Avoid Testing Risks

The safety requirements for different products vary greatly, which is a 'bottom line requirement' that cannot be compromised:

1. General security configuration

Overtemperature alarm, fan fault protection, leakage protection, emergency stop button; The fire protection level of the warehouse body is ≥ B2 level, and the observation window is anti fog.

2. Security upgrades for special products

Batteries/flammable and explosive products: Explosion proof aging rooms must be selected, and ordinary aging rooms are prohibited;

Medical/Aseptic Products: UV disinfection and efficient filtration systems are required to ensure a sterile environment;

High voltage products: require good grounding and anti-static design.

3. Compliance certification

The equipment must comply with industry standards, and priority should be given to manufacturers certified by CNAS and CMA;

4、 Step 4: Balancing Intelligence and Scalability - Adapting to Future Needs

To avoid falling behind after purchasing, it is necessary to consider product iteration and production scale expansion:

1. Intelligent functions

Basic functions: touch screen operation, multi segment program setting, real-time data display;

Advanced features: data storage, remote monitoring, fault warning, and integration with MES system;

Unmanned requirements: AGV automatic loading and unloading interface, access control linkage, automatic power-off protection.

2. Scalability design

Reserve 20%~30% volume redundancy; Support function upgrade; Modular structure.

5、 Step 5: Calculate operating costs and after-sales service - long-term use is more worry free

1. Energy consumption cost

Prioritize energy-saving equipment: air source heat pump heating, variable frequency fan+compressor; Ask the manufacturer about their "unit energy consumption" and estimate the annual electricity bill based on the testing duration.

2. After sales service

1. The product is serviced by professional technicians from our company's technical service department for after-sales service.

2. The customer shall provide the external conditions required for instrument installation and be responsible for placing the instrument in place, ensuring that other components and accessories are in an installable state. The product shall be installed and debugged free of charge by engineering and technical personnel on site, and 1-2 system operators shall be trained free of charge. After installation and debugging are completed, personnel from both parties shall sign and approve the debugging acceptance report.

3. Upon receiving a customer service request, provide a formal written repair plan to the customer within eight hours, and provide on-site service within 24 hours in Dongguan/Wuhan.

4. The product has a one-year warranty period in China, during which the supplier will provide free repair and replacement of parts damaged due to quality issues; Due to non product quality issues causing malfunctions, only the cost of production will be charged. For damages to parts outside the warranty period, only the cost of the provided accessories will be charged. The product will be serviced for life and accessories and vulnerable parts will be provided.

6、 Avoiding pitfalls reminder: 3 common misconceptions

Blindly pursuing high parameters: such as electronic component testing, there is no need to choose a wide temperature range of -70 ℃~400 ℃. Conventional 85 ℃ is sufficient, and high parameters will incur more than 30% additional costs;

Neglecting the impact of load: only looking at the no-load parameters of the equipment, without considering the product's heat generation/volume, resulting in uneven temperature field and temperature runaway after load;

Only focus on price without attention to details: low-priced equipment may use inferior insulation materials, poor sensor accuracy, and lack of after-sales guarantee.

According to this logic, selecting a temperature controlled aging room that can meet current testing needs and adapt to future development, while controlling procurement and operating costs, truly selects a "customized" temperature controlled aging room.
