To determine whether the humidification system of the constant temperature and humidity test chamber needs antifreeze protection, the core depends on the two dimensions of "temperature threshold+usage scenario". If any triggering condition is met, the protection needs to be activated. The standards are clear and do not require professional tools. Laboratory personnel can quickly judge:

1、 Core judgment criteria: temperature triggered

The core of antifreeze protection is to prevent water from freezing. As long as the temperature reaches the critical value for freezing, the protection must be activated. There are two types of temperature scenarios:

Environmental temperature trigger (in the space where the device is located)

When the temperature in the laboratory/equipment placement area is ≤ 5 ℃ and the duration is ≥ 4 hours, antifreeze should be started immediately;

If the ambient temperature fluctuates greatly, even if the temperature meets the standard during the day, anti freezing measures should still be taken at night to avoid freezing;

Simple judgment: Use an electronic thermometer to monitor in real-time. As long as the displayed temperature is below 5 ℃, follow the anti freezing process.

Temperature trigger for in box test (during operation)

When the experimental temperature is set to ≤ 0 ℃ and the humidity is set to ≥ 60% RH (low temperature high humidity combination), anti freezing preparation must be started before operation;

If the test temperature is ≤ -10 ℃, regardless of the humidity level, the anti freezing protection must be turned on throughout the entire process;

2、 Scenario based judgment: combined with usage status for quick decision-making

In addition to temperature, the usage status of the equipment will also trigger anti freezing requirements, and there is no need to wait for the temperature to reach the standard to prepare in advance:

Shutdown Scenario (Key Focus)

Short term shutdown: If the ambient temperature is ≤ 10 ℃, residual water needs to be drained and the pipeline needs to be insulated;

Long term shutdown: Regardless of whether the ambient temperature is below 5 ℃, a complete set of antifreeze measures must be taken, especially in winter when idle equipment is prone to neglect the risk of icing;

Temporary shutdown: If the ambient temperature is ≤ 8 ℃, at least drain the water in the humidification pipeline.

Quick judgment based on climate

Northern region: From November to March of the following year, antifreeze protection is fully activated throughout the entire process;

Southern region: When the environmental humidity is ≥ 70% and the temperature is ≤ 8 ℃, start antifreeze;

Unheated laboratory: Regardless of the north or south, it is maintained according to anti freezing standards throughout the winter season.

Test type scenario

If long-term "low-temperature testing" (≤ 0 ℃) is required, even if the ambient temperature is ≥ 5 ℃, insulation should be applied to the humidification pipeline and humidification port;

If the experiment frequently switches between "low temperature high temperature", the anti freezing measures should be checked before each low temperature stage.

3、 Auxiliary judgment signal: observe abnormal phenomena of the equipment

If the following phenomena occur, it indicates that the freezing critical point has been reached and anti freezing should be started immediately:

Surface condensation and cooling of humidification pipelines;

The device panel displays "humidification abnormal" and "pipeline blockage";

Open the humidification chamber door and see white ice crystals or hardening at the pipeline interface;

The humidification port has no water mist, but the panel displays "humidification in progress".

4、 Quick judgment process

Check the ambient temperature: electronic thermometer reading ≤ 5 ℃ → start antifreeze directly;

Check usage status: shutdown for ≥ 1 day or test temperature ≤ 0 ℃ → start antifreeze;

Look at the regional climate: Northern winter or no heating laboratory → Full antifreeze throughout the process.

Summary of Core Judgment Logic

No need for complex calculations, as long as the conditions of "low temperature, long shutdown, and cold area" are met, the humidification system must be protected against freezing. The core of winter antifreeze is "prevention in advance", rather than treating after freezing. Simple "draining water+pipeline insulation" can prevent 80% of icing damage.
