Yesterday at 10:20 am, a customer from Weifang, Shandong called to inquire about what to do if the pointer of the metal rotor flowmeter does not return to its original position? We carefully inquired with the customer about the on-site working conditions, current medium flow range, pressure, temperature, and installation method. The customer gave us their answers separately. Later, we looked at the customer's parameter requirements when placing the order and compared them with the current situation where the pointer did not return to its original position. We immediately told the customer what to do, and the customer followed our instructions to complete it. After a while, the pointer returned to its original position. The customer was very satisfied. Today, we will explain to you: What should we do if the pointer of a metal rotor flowmeter does not return to its original position?

Firstly, we know that metal rotor flowmeter products are devices that calculate flow rates by measuring the position of rotating components within a straight pipeline. Its working principle is that in a vertical conical tube that expands from bottom to top, the gravity of the circular cross-section float is supported by liquid power, and the float can freely rise and fall inside the conical tube. Under the action of flow velocity and buoyancy, it moves up and down, and after balancing with the weight of the float, it is transmitted to the dial through magnetic coupling to indicate the flow rate. Due to different flow rates, the height of the float varies, and the circular flow area changes with the flow rate. Therefore, this flow measurement method is generally referred to as the variable area method. The problem of the pointer of the metal rotor flowmeter not returning to its original position may be caused by various factors, and the specific reasons are as follows:
1、 The flow rate of the medium is too high
When the flow rate of the medium is too high, it will cause the pointer to move to a non-zero position.
Solution: At this point, simply open the watch cover and reset the pointer to zero.
2、 Impurities in the medium have trapped the float:
During transportation or use, impurities such as welding slag and impurities may accumulate inside the pipeline, which may trap the float and prevent it from moving freely, thereby causing the pointer to fail to return to zero.
Solution: Remove the instrument, clean the impurities in the float and pipeline, and ensure that the float can move freely. During the cleaning process, care should be taken not to damage the float or other components.
3、 The up and down impact of the instrument caused deformation of the parts
During transportation or installation, if the instrument is subjected to severe impact, it may cause internal components such as guides to deform, affecting the normal movement of the float and preventing the pointer from returning to zero.
Solution: Check whether the internal parts are bent or deformed, and if necessary, contact us for repair or replacement of damaged parts.
4、 The relative position of the instrument indicator is loose
During transportation, installation, or use, if the instrument is subjected to severe vibration or improper operation, it may cause a change in the relative position between the indicator and the sensor, thereby affecting the zeroing of the pointer.
Solution: Adjust the position of the indicator so that its pointer points to "Rp" (not working state), check if the LCD screen displays zero, and then tighten the fixing screw to ensure that the indicator position is stable.
5、 The deformation of the parts caused the float to jam:
Quick opening and closing of the valve can cause a sharp change in internal pressure of the flowmeter, which may cause the stopper to deform and thus jam the float.
Solution: Remove the float and check if the stopper is deformed. If necessary, shape or replace it.
In summary: What should I do if the pointer of the metal rotor flowmeter does not return to its original position? Firstly, it is necessary to understand the on-site working conditions, check whether there are impurities in the medium, the pressure, temperature, and flow rate of the medium, and then determine the reason for the pointer not returning to its position. In the future, if you have any needs, I need to provide detailed parameters when purchasing, so that our manufacturer can have a clear understanding when helping you choose the type.
