Precautions for installation of metal rotor flowmeter
Date: 2015-12-09Read: 6

It is important to install a metal rotor flowmeter in daily work to ensure measurement accuracy and extend the service life of the instrument. Proper installation is crucial to ensure the measurement accuracy of the metal rotor flowmeter. The Technical Department of Jinhu Xuhui Automation Instrument Co., Ltd. summarizes the following points for you:

1. The metal rotor flowmeter is located in a dry and ventilated indoor area. Avoid installing in places with high ambient temperatures, avoid strong vibrations, and try to avoid equipment with strong magnetic fields, such as large motors, transformers, etc. Avoid installation in environments with corrosive gases. The installation location is convenient for maintenance. This is the environmental condition to ensure the normal operation of the metal rotor flowmeter.

2. In order to ensure that the measuring tube of the metal rotor flowmeter is filled with the measured medium, the metal rotor flowmeter is installed vertically with a flow direction from bottom to top. Especially for liquid-solid two-phase flow, it must be installed vertically. If only horizontal installation is allowed on site, it must be ensured that the two electrodes are in the same horizontal plane.

3. To avoid interference signals, the signal between the metal rotor flowmeter and the converter must be transmitted using shielded wires. It is not allowed to parallel signal cables and power lines in the same cable steel pipe. The length of signal cables should generally not exceed 30m.

4. The millivolt AC potential measured by the electrodes of a metal rotor flowmeter is based on the liquid potential inside the flowmeter. In order to stabilize the liquid potential and maintain equal potential between the transmitter and the fluid for stable measurement, the transmitter housing and both ends of the metal tube should be well grounded, and the converter housing should also be grounded. The grounding resistance should not exceed 10 and should not be shared with the grounding wire of other electrical equipment. If good contact between the transmitter housing and the metal pipeline cannot be guaranteed, metal wires should be used to connect them together and then reliably grounded.

5. To avoid the influence of flow velocity on relative measurement, the flow control valve should be set downstream of the transmitter. For small caliber transmitters, because the distance from the electrode center to the inlet end of the flowmeter is equivalent to several times the length of diameter D, there is no requirement for upstream straight pipes. However, for larger caliber flowmeters, there should generally be a straight pipe section of 5D or more upstream, and no straight pipe section is required downstream.

6. The installation location of the converter should avoid strong AC and DC magnetic fields and vibrations, with an ambient temperature of 20-50 ℃, no corrosive gases, and a relative humidity not exceeding 80%.
