Interpretation of Calibration Standards for Chlorophyll Online Monitoring Instruments
Date: 2025-08-06Read: 9
The calibration specification of chlorophyll online monitoring instruments (usually referring to online water quality chlorophyll detectors) is a key step in ensuring the accuracy and stability of instrument measurements. The following is correctChlorophyll online monitoring instrumentDetailed interpretation of calibration standards:
1、 Preparation before calibration
1. Instrument installation and debugging:
Ensure that the instrument has been correctly installed on site and basic debugging work has been completed, and the instrument is in a stable state.
Check if the installation position of the instrument meets the requirements, avoid excessive water flow or fluctuations, and stay away from pollution sources.
2. Calibration environment:
Ensure that the calibration environment meets the requirements of the instrument manual, such as temperature, humidity, etc., to avoid the influence of environmental factors on the calibration results.
3. Calibration solution:
Prepare a set of chlorophyll standard solutions with known concentrations for calibrating instruments. The concentration range of the standard solution should cover the concentration range of the actual monitored water body.
Ensure the accuracy and expiration date of standard solutions, and avoid using expired or contaminated standard solutions.
4. Personnel training:
Train operators on the purpose, methods, and precautions of calibration to ensure a smooth calibration process.
2、 Calibration steps
1. Zero point calibration:
Immerse the probe in a zero calibration solution (usually distilled water or deionized water) and wait for the instrument to automatically read and record the zero value.
If the zero point value deviates from the normal range, it needs to be adjusted according to the instrument manual.
2. Span calibration:
Use standard solutions of different concentrations for span calibration.
Immerse the probe into standard solutions of different concentrations and wait for the instrument to automatically read and record the measurement values at each concentration.
Check if the deviation between the measured value and the standard value is within the allowable range. If the deviation exceeds the range, adjustments should be made according to the instrument manual.
3. Repetitive calibration:
Measure the standard solution of the same concentration multiple times and check the repeatability of the measurement results.
If the repeatability is good, it indicates that the stability of the instrument is high; If the repeatability is poor, further inspection and adjustment of the instrument are required.
4. Comparison experiment:
Conduct comparative experiments with other known accuracy chlorophyll detection methods or instruments to verify the accuracy of the online water quality chlorophyll detector.
The results of the comparative experiment should meet the expected requirements, otherwise the instrument needs to be adjusted or repaired.

3、 Post calibration processing
1. Data processing and recording:
Record the calibration data in the corresponding table or report, and analyze and process it.
Make necessary adjustments or repairs to the instrument based on the deviation situation.
2. Probe cleaning and inspection:
Regularly check the cleanliness of the probe. If contamination or blockage is found, the probe should be cleaned or replaced in a timely manner.
Use specialized cleaning agents or distilled water to clean the surface of the probe, ensuring that it is clean and free from contamination.
After cleaning, recalibration is required to verify the cleaning effect.
4、 Calibration precautions
1. Avoid interference:
During the calibration process, avoid exposing the probe to sunlight, dust, or other harsh environments.
The water sample may contain substances that can interfere with the measurement results, such as residual chlorine, heavy metals, etc. Special attention should be paid to avoiding these interfering substances from entering the measurement system when collecting and processing samples.
2. Calibration frequency:
Calibration is an important maintenance task that should be carried out regularly (such as monthly or quarterly) to ensure that the instrument is in good working condition.
According to actual monitoring needs and changes in water quality, the calibration frequency can be increased in a timely manner.
3. Operator quality:
Operators should maintain a high sense of responsibility and professional competence, strictly follow the operating procedures for calibration work, and ensure the accuracy and reliability of data.
4. Instrument file management:
It is recommended to establish a comprehensive instrument archive management system to record the use and maintenance of instruments, in order to track and analyze the performance trends of instruments.
The calibration standards for chlorophyll online monitoring instruments involve multiple aspects, including pre calibration preparation, calibration steps, post calibration processing, and calibration precautions. Following these specifications can ensure the stability and accuracy of the instrument in practical applications, providing strong support for water quality management and protection work.
