Shanghai Yichuan Instrument will explain to you why it is necessary to install a flow meter with a full straight pipe section

Shanghai Yichuan InstrumentAlthough the types of flow meters are complex, their measurement principles are the same. The accuracy of the measured flow rate is not only related to the accuracy of the flow meter itself, but also to its installation orientation. The ideal installation orientation of the flow meter is that the activity of the upstream and downstream fluid is single-phase steady flow. In this way, the resistance fittings of the upstream and downstream parts of the flow meter do not directly affect the measurement accuracy of the flow meter.
Simply put, it is necessary for fluids in circular pipelines to form typical velocity distributions (laminar velocity distribution and turbulent velocity distribution) in order to use sophisticated mathematical models for accurate measurement and calculation. However, this typical flow velocity dispersion is necessary to be composed of fully developed activities within the pipe, that is, to meet the requirements of a long straight pipe section. However, if the fluid flows through flow barriers such as elbows, tees, valves, etc., the velocity distribution will be distorted and vortices will occur. In this case, the fluid will become an insufficiently developed pipe flow, and the velocity at any section of the pipeline will be different and constantly changing. As long as the flow velocity dispersion is restored at the end of a long straight pipe section or after installing a rectifier, it can fully develop the pipe flow. This is the fundamental reason why many flow meters need to meet the requirements of long straight pipe sections.
