Working principle of magnetic flap level gauge: the force of magnetic coupling, insight into changes in liquid level

  Magnetic flap level gauge is a widely used liquid level measuring instrument in modern industry. With its unique principle and stable performance, it plays a key role in industries such as petroleum, chemical, power, metallurgy, etc.It cleverly combines the principle of buoyancy with magnetic coupling to achieve intuitive indication and remote control of liquid level in closed or open containers, becoming an ideal replacement for traditional glass tube level gauges.

  1、 Core working principle: The dance of buoyancy and magnetism
The working process of the magnetic flap level gauge is a coherent physical process, and its core can be decomposed into three steps:
1. Buoyancy effect: The float rises and falls with the liquid level
The liquid level gauge is connected to the container through flanges and other connectors, forming a connector. The liquid level inside the main tube of the level gauge is always at the same height as the liquid level inside the container. The magnetic float placed inside the main tube will move vertically synchronously with the rise and fall of the liquid level in the container under buoyancy.
2. Magnetic coupling transmission: Magnetic driven flip column
The float is embedded with high-performance magnetic steel inside. When the float moves with the liquid level, its internal magnetic steel will generate a stable magnetic field. This magnetic field can penetrate the main tube wall made of non-magnetic material and be magnetically coupled to the magnetic flip column indicator installed externally next to the main tube.
3. Visual indication: Red and white flip, clear and visible
The magnetic flip column indicator consists of a series of independent small flip columns (or flip pieces) coated with different colors on both sides. These flip columns contain magnetic sensitive components inside. Under the magnetic field of the magnetic steel inside the float, the flipping column will undergo a 180 degree flip. When the liquid level rises, the flipping column changes from white to red; When the liquid level drops, the flipping column changes from red to white. The precise position of the red and white border on the indicator is the actual height of the liquid level inside the container, thus achieving clear and intuitive on-site indication.
  2、 Function Expansion: From Local Display to Remote Control
The basic red and white flip provides on-site indication, while modern magnetic flip level gauges have much more functions than that. By adding additional modules, it can achieve more powerful functions:
1. Alarm and control: Install magnetic switches at specific liquid level points on the outside of the main pipe. When the magnetic float moving with the liquid level passes through these switches, it will trigger the switch action, thereby outputting the switch signal, realizing the upper and lower limit alarm of the liquid level or the start stop control of the linked pump valve.
2. Remote signal output: Install the remote transmitter, attach it tightly to the main tube, and fix it with non-magnetic material. The transmitter linearly converts the liquid level height into a standard current signal output of 4-20mA by sensing changes in the magnetic field of the float. This signal can be remotely transmitted to the control room, connected to DCS, PLC or digital display instruments, to achieve remote monitoring, recording and adjustment.
  3、 Significant technical features: outstanding advantages, wide applicability
Based on its working principle, the magnetic flap level gauge exhibits many outstanding characteristics:
1. High definition and intuitive display: The red and white dual color contrast is vivid, the liquid level interface is clear at a glance, the observation distance is far, and it can work without power supply.
2. High sealing and safety: The measuring mechanism is completely isolated from the measured medium without moving seals, fundamentally solving the leakage problem. Make it highly suitable for hazardous media such as flammable, explosive, toxic, and highly corrosive.
3. Wide applicability: It can adapt to various working conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, and low temperature. By selecting different main body tubes and float materials, various corrosive media can be measured.
4. Simple structure, easy maintenance: sturdy structure, low failure rate, and small daily maintenance workload.
