Extend the service life! Learn maintenance techniques for these drainage network level gauges
Date: 2025-11-07Read: 10
  Drainage pipeline level gaugeIt is an intelligent monitoring device designed specifically for urban drainage systems, integrating sensors, data collection, communication, and remote management functions. Through high-precision measurement and real-time data transmission, it provides key guarantees for the safe operation of drainage networks. The device adopts a dual-mode redundant design of radar and pressure, which can work separately or collaboratively. The radar level gauge uses FMCW frequency modulated continuous wave technology to calculate the liquid level by transmitting microwave and receiving reflected signals, with a measurement accuracy of ± 3mm, a range of 0.3-10 meters, and free from interference from steam, foam, dust, etc; The pressure type liquid level gauge is based on the principle of liquid static pressure, which converts the liquid level height by measuring the bottom pressure, with an accuracy level of 0.2% FS, and is suitable for closed or high-pressure environments. The dual-mode design can automatically switch working modes to ensure data reliability under complex working conditions.
  Drainage pipeline level gaugeMaintenance is crucial to ensure its long-term stable operation, data accuracy, and extended service life. The following are common maintenance methods and precautions:
1、 Daily inspection and maintenance
Visual inspection
Check if the casing is damaged, corroded, or if the seal has failed;
Confirm that the installation bracket is secure and not loose or tilted;
Check if the cable joints are waterproof and free from aging.
Clean the surface of the sensor
Ultrasonic/radar level gauge: remove dirt, oil film, water vapor, or spider webs from the probe head's emitting surface;
Pressure type liquid level gauge: Regularly flush the pressure hole to prevent blockage by sediment or debris;
Floating ball level gauge: Clean the attachments (such as algae, oil stains, and sediments) on the floating ball and guide rod.
Check power supply and signal
Ensure stable power supply voltage;
Check if the output signals (4-20mA, RS485, etc.) are normal;
Compare the on-site readings with the remote monitoring system data to ensure consistency.
2、 Regular professional maintenance (recommended every 3-6 months)
Calibrate the liquid level gauge
Use standard measuring tools (such as rulers, portable measuring instruments) for on-site comparison;
Perform zero or range calibration on equipment with significant deviations;
Record calibration data and establish maintenance files.
Check the sealing and explosion-proof performance
Replace the aging sealing ring;
In the explosion-proof area, confirm that the equipment meets the Ex certification requirements.
Clean up the well chamber environment
The accumulation of water and silt in the drainage pump station or inspection well may affect the operation of the liquid level gauge, and simultaneous dredging is required;
Prevent floating objects from hitting or entangling the sensor.
3、 Response to special working conditions
High solid/high viscosity wastewater: increase cleaning frequency, consider installing automatic flushing devices or using anti fouling sensors;
Corrosive medium: Choose corrosion-resistant materials (such as 316L stainless steel, PTFE coating);
Winter low temperature areas: Pay attention to antifreeze and install insulation or heat tracing tape if necessary (especially for pressure level gauges).
4、 Fault warning and recording
Establish a level gauge operation log to record abnormal fluctuations and alarm information;
Promptly investigate situations such as data jumps, no signal, and continuous maximum/minimum values;
Utilize SCADA or IoT platforms to achieve remote status monitoring and early warning.
5、 Safety precautions
Before entering the inspection well, it is necessary to ventilate and detect toxic and harmful gases (such as H ₂ S, CH ₄);
Power off operation, comply with confined space operation regulations;
When installing at heights or near water, personnel protection should be taken.
