ybzhanSelection of conductors for bus ducts

Copper or aluminum bars are used as conductors, which have high current density, low resistance, and small skin effect. There is no need to reduce capacity, and low voltage drop means low energy loss, ultimately helping end users save investment. For cables, due to the fact that the cable core is made of multiple thin copper wires, the area of a single cable is larger than that of a busbar of the same current level, and a single cable generally does not exceed 1000A. When the capacity is large, multiple cables need to be connected in parallel to complete the task. Therefore, the skin effect of cables is severe, reducing the rated current, increasing voltage drop, causing significant energy loss, cable aging, and easily causing line heating. The safety of low-voltage cables is weaker than that of bus ducts.

The surface of the cable is made of rubber material, and the insulation layer has poor resistance to mechanical damage. During the laying process, due to the complex engineering environment, the cable skin is easily scratched, and it is also susceptible to damage from rodents and insects, causing short circuit accidents during use; When installing cables, the power must be cut off first. If the operation is incorrect, danger can occur, especially when the cables need to be grounded on site. Unreliable grounding can increase the risk. The conductor of the bus duct is insulated and protected by a hard enclosed shell. The protection level of the bus is generally IP40, IP42, IP54, IP65, and can reach up to IP66; The electrical grade busbar enclosure can be used as a whole grounding, and the grounding performance is very reliable.
