On August 15th, the National Bureau of Statistics released data showing that the growth rate of electricity production has accelerated. In July, power generation reached 805.9 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 4.5%, with a growth rate 3.0 percentage points faster than the previous month, and an average daily power generation of 26 billion kilowatt hours. From January to July, power generation reached 4.77 trillion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year increase of 1.4%.
As summer comes to an end and the high temperatures gradually end, it is expected that within one or two weeks, the power shortage in most areas will significantly ease.
Industrial electricity accounts for the largest proportion of the total electricity consumption in the country, about 70%, while urban and rural residential electricity consumption is relatively small. Protecting residents has always been the bottom line of the government, so in the face of power shortages, adhering to orderly electricity use is conducive to alleviating the situation of power supply shortage.
It should be emphasized that orderly electricity use refers to taking measures such as off peak, off peak, rotation, power transfer, and negative control to avoid unplanned power outages and restrictions. At present, several provinces including Sichuan have implemented three-level power supply regulation measures to ensure the electricity supply for people's livelihoods.
The power shortage this time is mainly due to a sudden decrease in precipitation, not a problem with the operation of the power system. Therefore, fundamentally speaking, preventing such phenomena from happening again requires global cooperation to jointly solve the extreme problemsClimate change issues.
