Operation Method:When measuring hardness, the tip of the indenter and the foot of the hardness tester should be placed on the same plane as the surface being measured. The thickness correction plate shall not have integers on both sides. The readings obtained on the old indentation will affect the accuracy of the readings, therefore, sufficient and suitable calibration plates should be provided.

Apply force and carefully press down the handle of the hardness tester, observe the indicator reading, and pay attention to the peak value of the reading. For softer materials, there may be some drop in the peak value, which is normal and determined by the properties of the tested material. As a general rule, the recommended number of measurements should increase as the tested material becomes softer.

The pressure needle must be kept perpendicular to the surface of the pattern. To ensure verticality, the feet of the hardness tester must be in the same plane as the tip of the indenter. The two planes of the support must be connected to the same surface. Different styles of rules should be installed in a fixture to ensure verticality is maintained. For flat shaped objects, appropriate padding can be added between the hardness tester housing and the support legs to accommodate the thickness of the pattern. If the pressure needle is not perpendicular to the surface, the reading will be inaccurate.

Notes:Do not attempt to re polish the damaged indenter!

The structural dimensions of the indenter determine the accuracy of the reading, and re polishing may result in errors. To check the condition of the indenter, first visually inspect for damage, then place the hardness tester on a hard and flat surface, place a suitable calibration plate under the indenter, carefully and steadily press down on the handle of the hardness tester to avoid the indenter slipping to one side, and the reading on the indicator should be within the range indicated by the calibration plate.
