Sensor usage

Is the XCell sensor of the ALTAIR 2X detector plug and play?

yes. You only need to replace the sensor to change the gas type detected by the ALTAIR 2X gas detector. If you choose to manage the ALTAIR 2X detector combination in this way, please be sure to replace the instrument gas label to avoid confusion with the detection function of the equipment. Also, please remember that the ALTAIR2X Cl2 and NH3 detectors must use a unfiltered front housing (part number). Can the ALTAIR 2X detector sensor be used with the ALTAIR 4X or 5X detector (or vice versa)?

2. Cannot. The XCell sensor of the ALTAIR 2X detector cannot be interchanged with the ALTAIR 4X and 5X detectors. If an exchange is made incorrectly, the ALTAIR 2X detector will display SNS ERR 23-0000. At this point, simply turn off the instrument and install a compatible sensor according to the standard sensor replacement process described in the ALTAIR 2X detector operation manual.

3. How to change the set point of ALTAIR 2X detector?

You can change the set points and other settings through MSA link software.

4. Can you turn off a gas detected by the ALTAIR 2XT detector and turn it into a single gas detector?

Not entirely. This change can be made, but it cannot be done through MSA link software and can only be done by authorized MSA repair centers.

5. Can the ALTAIR 2XP detector equipped with H2S-PLS sensors be used to detect O2?

I can't. The O2 electrode embedded in the ALTAIR 2XP detector is only valid during rapid testing.
