Overview
The greatly expanded number of sensor connections allows multiple sensors to be connected to one data collector
Product Details
overview
The AM16/32B expansion board can significantly increase the number of sensors. Connect with data collectors to provide more terminal interfaces for almost all types of wired sensors.
Advantages and Characteristics
Significantly increase the number of sensors that can be measured by the data logger
Can use an additional 16, 32, or 48 sensors
Supports multiple types of sensors, including thermistors, potentiometers, strain gauges, vibration wires, reflectometers, and soil moisture blocks
Reduce the cost of wiring a single sensor during long-term operation
Allow a relay address to be directly used for a specific channel - reducing the power consumption and loss of relay switches
Protect equipment from surges by installing gas pipes and grounding lugs on all inputs
Prevent sensor cable damage by providing strain compensation for sensor wires and independent routing for sensor shielding wires
Eliminating the requirement for gypsum soil wet block DC blocking capacitors significantly reduces sensor costs
Technical description
According to the type of sensor, AM16/32B can connect 16, 32, or 48 sensors. Up to 6 AM16/32B can be connected to the same data collector, depending on the number of control ports and effective analog inputs.
One type of AM16/32B expansion board is 16 * 4, connected through 4 COM terminals, and the other type is 32 * 2, connected through 2 COM terminals. The COM terminal is connected to the analog input of the data collector, and the excitation channel or grounding port is connected through a cable, depending on the condition of the sensor. The data collector controls the cross display board through two control ports, or controls the expansion board through one control port and one excitation channel.

Considerations for data loggers
programming
A series of data logger instructions control the am16/32 operation (repeated measurement instructions are usually included in a programming loop; in the cr800 series, cr1000, cr3000, and cr5000, this function can be obtained in the sub scan instructions).
sensor
Compatible sensors include thermistors, potentiometers, load cells, strain gauges, vibration wire or vibration band sensors, water content reflectometers, and soil moisture blocks. For reusing thermocouples, it is recommended to use am25t.
Maximum number of sensor connections
The maximum number of sensors that can be multiplexed through an am16/32 depends on the type of sensor being measured. For example, assuming the same sensor, am16/32 can act multiple times to achieve:
32 single ended or differential sensors requiring two wires (e.g. thermistor, half bridge)
16 single ended or differential sensors requiring four wires (e.g. full bridge, four wire half bridge)
32 vibration line sensors (16 with temperature), combined with AVW 1, AVW 4, AVW 100 or AVW 200 series vibration line interfaces
48 half bridge measurements (assuming common excitation and completion resistance at the data logger)
48 cs616 water content reflectometer (assuming co excitation)
32 gypsum soil wet block (model 223 or 253). Am16/32 eliminates the requirement for DC blocking capacitors, greatly reducing sensor costs
Considerations regarding power
In am16/32 b, the resting time is less than 210 microamperes and the active time is 6 milliamperes, so the energy consideration is closely related to the percentage of time between the resting state and the active state. Using a relay address can reduce power consumption by minimizing the time spent in an active state.
In most applications, the sealed charging power supply of the data logger should be sufficient; The alkaline power supply of the data logger can be used for applications where multitasking is not frequently activated.
Consideration of attachments
AM16/32 operates under most outdoor conditions, but requires a non condensing environment. Outdoor use requires a weather resistant casing with desiccants. If the multiplexer is located far away from the data logger, a smaller casing is often used.
If am16/32 is placed in the casing of a data logger, one am16/32, one cr800, cr850, cr1000, cr3000, or cr10x data logger, and one ps150 power supply will be installed in cenc12/14. For the convenience of wiring, it is recommended to use a larger casing (e.g. enc 16/18).
software
loggernet,pc 400, It is compatible with am16/32 and shortcuts. Shortcut software (provided for free on our website) supports simple programming and generates circuit diagrams for am16/32 applications; The early versions of shortcuts did not support multiplexers. Please refer to the comments in the compatibility table of the data logger.
