Proximity switches often use semiconductor transistors (collectors) for control signal output, compared to mechanical action output control. Due to the use of contactless output, it enhances long-distance proximity sensors. Therefore, using semiconductor output has fast response speed, longer service life, and no impact on the life of contacts. Unlike the light detection method, it is suitable for use in harsh environments such as water and oil, and is almost unaffected by stains and oil, water, etc. on the detection object. Compared with contact switches, the use of semiconductor transistors (collectors) as control outputs enables high-speed response and can also be used for speed measurement.

Disadvantages of proximity switches:
