When used for protective electroplating (such as decorative gold), it can make the coating uniform in color, good in brightness, and strong in corrosion resistance. Especially, the anodic dissolution of the reverse pulse of the dual pulse power supply rapidly increases the concentration of metal ions on the cathode surface, which is beneficial for the subsequent use of high pulse current density in the cathode cycle, resulting in a dense, bright, and low porosity coating; The anodic stripping of the reverse pulse of the dual pulse power supply greatly reduces the adhesion of impurities (including brighteners) in the coating, resulting in high purity and strong anti discoloration ability of the coating.
During the pulse electroplating process, when the current is conducting, the pulse (peak) current of the pulse power supply is several times or even tens of times that of the ordinary DC current. It is precisely this instantaneous high current density that causes metal ions to be reduced at extremely high overpotentials, resulting in finer grains in the deposited layer; When the current is turned off, the discharged ions near the cathode region return to their initial concentration, and the concentration polarization is removed. This is beneficial for continuing to use high pulse (peak) current density during the next pulse, while during the turn off period, there are also phenomena such as recrystallization and adsorption desorption that are beneficial to the sedimentary layer.
This process runs synchronously throughout the entire electroplating process, and the mechanisms involved constitute the basic principle of pulse electroplating. Practice has proven that pulse power supply has incomparable advantages over traditional DC electroplating in refining crystallization, changing the physical and chemical properties of coatings, and saving precious metals.
Used for electroplating special workpieces that require precise tolerances, as well as in situations where DC power supplies and single pulse electroplating power supplies cannot achieve ideal results, such as connectors and their pins, fine patterns, circuit board vias, microwave circuit boards, multilayer boards, etc. Electroplating has very ideal effects, and its application fields are constantly expanding, especially in situations where surface coating requirements are relatively high and precious metal electroplating is very practical!
