Parshall flume, also known as Bab flume, is an auxiliary device for measuring open channel flow. The prototype isVenturiSink, the latter's experiment

VM. Tone began in Colorado, USA in 1915. In 1922, F.L. Marshall made a fundamental change to this and created the now widely used Bachel groove. Subsequent hydraulic experiments were repeated multiple times, resulting in various measuring tanks ranging in size from 1 inch to 50 inches.
The name Bacher Trough was given by the American Civil Society in 1929. Afterwards, many countries such as the United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, India, Argentina, etc. also proposed various types of design schemes for Venturi tanks and conducted experiments, but the Bachel tank is still a popular tank in Venturi tanks.
The larger the flow in the open channel, the higher the liquid level; The smaller the flow rate, the lower the liquid level. For general channels, there is no definite correspondence between liquid level and flow rate. Because the same water depth and flow rate are also related to the cross-sectional area, slope, and roughness of the channel. Installing a measuring weir groove in the channel, the correspondence between the upstream water level and flow rate of the channel mainly depends on the geometric dimensions of the weir groove, as the gap of the weir or the contraction of the groove is smaller than the cross-sectional area of the channel. The same measuring weir tank is placed on different channels, and the same liquid level corresponds to the same flow rate. The measuring weir channel converts the flow into liquid level. By measuring the liquid level of the water flow in the measuring weir tank, and then reverse calculating the flow rate based on the corresponding water level flow relationship of the measuring weir tank.
application
1. The Bacher trough has a complex shape and is more expensive than a weir, and in order to improve accuracy, it is required to measure the dimensions of each part of the trough accurately. But there are also some advantages of other measuring devices, such as low water level loss (about a quarter of the weir), almost no sedimentation of solid substances in the water, small influence on flow velocity, and relatively small impact on the water level on the downstream side. Therefore, they are used to measure the flow rate of other liquids such as agricultural water and industrial water.
2. WithOpen channel flow meterCooperate to convert the flow rate in the open channel into the height of the liquid level. Measure the flow rate of water in an open channel. Such as urban water supply diversion channels, cooling water diversion and drainage channels for thermal power plants, sewage treatment inflow and discharge channels, industrial and mining enterprise wastewater discharge, as well as water conservancy engineering and agricultural irrigation channels.
