Steering gearThe function of the steering gear is to appropriately transform the steering torque and steering angle from the steering wheel (mainly by reducing and increasing torque), and then output them to the steering rod mechanism, so as to turn the car. Therefore, the steering gear is essentially a deceleration transmission device. There are various types of steering gears, such as gear tooth strip type, circulating ball type, worm crank pin type, power steering gear, etc.

The function of a steering gear is to appropriately transform the steering torque and steering angle from the steering wheel (mainly by reducing and increasing torque), and then output them to the steering rod mechanism, thereby turning the car. Therefore, the steering gear is essentially a deceleration transmission device, generally consisting of 1-2 stages of deceleration transmission pairs

Circular ball steering is also a popular structural form in automobiles both domestically and internationally. In a circular ball steering gear, there are generally two stages of transmission pairs. The first stage is a screw nut transmission pair, and the second stage is a gear rack transmission pair or a slider crank pin transmission pair, as shown in the following figure.

In order to reduce the friction between the steering screw and the steering nut, the threads between the two are replaced by many steel balls rolling along the spiral groove to achieve sliding friction turning into rolling friction.

When the steering screw rotates, the force is transmitted to the nut through the steel ball, and the nut moves along the axis. The nut then meshes with the sector gear, and the linear motion becomes a rotational motion again, causing the connecting rod arm to shake. The connecting rod arm then causes the linkage rod and tie rod to make linear motion, changing the direction of the wheel. At the same time, under the frictional force couple between the screw and nut and the steel ball, all the steel balls roll in the spiral tube channel, forming a "ball flow".
