QUV uses fluorescent ultraviolet lamps to simulate the aging of materials under sunlight. Although UV energy only accounts for 5% of the total energy of sunlight, it is indeed the main factor causing the performance degradation of outdoor products. Therefore, the degradation and aging of polymer materials can be tested solely through UV irradiation.

QUV can be installed and used with various types of ultraviolet lamps. The total UV energy and spectrum of each type of lamp tube are different.

The spectrum of UVA-340 lamps is in the range of 295-365nm, which simulates the ultraviolet rays of sunlight very well. Therefore, the correlation between UVA-340 testing and outdoor exposure is very good. The short wave ultraviolet light emitted by UVB-313 lamps has stronger ultraviolet properties than the sunlight on the surface of the Earth, which can maximize the testing speed.
