Overview
The content of carbonate can reflect the fertility of soil, and the carbonate measurement device developed by Eijkelkamp complies with ENE5757 and DIN19682 and 19684 standards. The determination of calcium content applies the Scheigler principle, a method based on measuring soil volume content to reflect carbonate content. Adding hydrochloric acid to the sample can convert carbonate into carbon dioxide gas. The water in the measuring bucket will inflate and rise, and measuring the different water levels can display the amount of carbonate converted into carbon dioxide gas.

Can simultaneously measure the carbonate composition of 5 samples.
All fragile glass components that could be replaced have been replaced with synthetic materials. Due to the use of hydrochloric acid, the equipment design is stable and ergonomic. The complete set of carbonation determination equipment includes reaction vessels and test tubes (without reagents). Each reaction takes about an hour. Carbonate components that are difficult to dissolve, such as conch shells, require longer reaction times.

The required quantity of samples is determined in advance by treating a portion of the sample with hydrochloric acid in a surface dish. Based on the range and duration of bubbling, the amount of carbonate components can be estimated. Based on this estimation, the number of samples used for analysis can be inferred.

Using this instrument, there is no need to separate carbon dioxide from water with an airbag (this is to prevent gas from dissolving in water), which makes the measurement results much more accurate.
To ensure repeatability and accuracy, multiple measurements should be taken in a constant temperature room with a temperature not exceeding 4 ℃. In addition, the reagents must also meet the analytical standards.
The possibility of other gases (such as in polluted soil) escaping simultaneously should also be considered. If that's the case, the gas must be purified first, and the carbon dioxide composition must also be measured using other methods.
