Tungsten rhenium alloy thermocouples can be used within a wide temperature range of -196 ° C to 2760 ° C. The temperature range of standard thermometers (ASTM E230 and E1751) is from 0 ° C to 2315 ° C. It is very stable at high temperatures in reducing or inert atmospheres such as hydrogen, inert gases, and vacuum. Compared to precious metals, tungsten rhenium thermocouples have relatively lower costs.
There are three common combination types of tungsten rhenium thermocouples: Type G: pure W and W26Re; Type D: W3Re and W25Re, Type C: W5Re and W26Re. Among them, C-type tungsten rhenium thermocouples are the most widely used. C-type tungsten rhenium thermocouples maintain good ductility at high temperatures and can be exposed or used in hard ceramic insulated tubes (such as Al2O3, MgO, etc.).
