Installation guide for rotor flowmeter, key steps for precise measurement

  As a commonly used flow measurement instrument in industrial production, the measurement accuracy and reliability of the rotor flowmeter largely depend on the correct installation method.Mastering the scientific installation requirements is the foundation for ensuring the optimal performance of the rotor flowmeter.

  1、 Installation location selection
1. Vertical installation principle: The rotor flowmeter must be installed vertically, with a vertical deviation of less than 2 °. The fluid should pass through the flowmeter from bottom to top, causing the rotor to naturally rise under buoyancy to ensure measurement accuracy. Horizontal installation can cause rotor displacement and result in reading errors.
2. Upstream and downstream straight pipe sections: It is recommended that the inlet straight pipe section be no less than 5 times the diameter of the pipeline, and the outlet straight pipe section be no less than 2 times the diameter of the pipeline. If there are turbulence elements such as valves or elbows upstream, the length of the straight pipe section should be increased to 10-15 times the diameter of the pipeline to ensure stable fluid flow.
3. Environmental conditions: The installation location should be away from vibration sources and strong electromagnetic fields, and the ambient temperature should be controlled between -20 ℃ and 80 ℃. When installing outdoors, a protective cover should be added to prevent rainwater, dust, and other factors from affecting measurement accuracy.
  2、 Pipeline Connection Specification
1. Flange or threaded connection: Select the matching connection method according to the diameter of the pipeline, and ensure that the sealing gasket material is compatible with the medium for flange connection. Before installation, check the inner wall of the pipeline to ensure that there are no burrs, welding slag, or other foreign objects.
2. Flow direction identification: Install strictly according to the flow direction arrow on the flowmeter housing to ensure that the fluid direction is consistent with the rotor movement direction. Reverse installation can cause rotor jamming or measurement failure.
3. Pressure and temperature: The pressure and temperature at the installation location should be within the rated range of the flowmeter, and special attention should be paid to the sealing of the flange connection in high-pressure situations.
  3、 Key points of operation and maintenance
1. Pre operation inspection: Before use, slowly open the upstream valve first, and then gradually open the downstream valve to avoid instantaneous high-pressure impact on the rotor. When using for the first time, it is necessary to exhaust the gas through a bypass pipeline.
2. Zero point calibration: In the absence of flow, adjust the flow meter pointer to zero position to ensure accurate measurement reference.
3. Regular maintenance: Check the wear of the rotor every six months and clean the inner wall of the measuring tube. For easily crystallizable media, the pipeline should be flushed promptly after use.
The correct installation of rotor flow meters is directly related to the reliability of measurement data, from chemical production to water treatment, from laboratories to industrial sites. Following these installation specifications not only ensures measurement accuracy, but also extends equipment lifespan and provides accurate data support for production process control. Remember, proper installation is the first step in accurate measurement.
