Behind the scenes of automotive research and development, sunlight simulation experiments are crucial. In the laboratory,The equipment accurately simulates the solar spectrum and intensity, and conducts aging and thermal performance tests on components. From the paint to the interior, the durability and stability of the car are tested to provide a solid guarantee for its long-lasting quality and safety, helping the car to withstand the test of the sun and gallop in all directions.

Have you ever thought that when a car is elegantly driving on the road, the sunshine is quietly exerting an impact on it'Aging Challenge'? Today, we will delve into the magical experiment of solar radiation aging.

In the laboratory, thisThe testing ground for the fate of automobiles, with professional equipment fully simulating the full spectrum attack of sunlight. Automotive components are like brave warriors, subjected to repeated tests of ultraviolet, visible, and infrared radiation. Car paint is like skin. Will wrinkles (fading, loss of luster) appear prematurely under the erosion of ultraviolet rays? The plastic interior resembles a youthful appearance, but can it remain tight (preventing brittleness and deformation) in the face of long-term light exposure? Electronic components are like the heart and brain. Can they still maintain stable beating and thinking (maintain normal performance) under thermal radiation?

Fluorescent UV lamp agingUV (wavelength: 285nm)~400nm)

xenon lamp aging(Wavelength: 300nm)~800nm)

Carbon arc lamp aging(Wavelength: 300nm)~700nm)

Aging of metal halide lamps(Wavelength:280nm~3000nm)

Common terms:① Irradiation power:The solar radiation received per unit area and per unit time on the ground, measured in W/m2@nm;

The irradiation power can be represented by the irradiation intensity at a certain point, or by the irradiation intensity in a certain wavelength band. For example, in a summer noon, the sunlight intensity is about0.55W/m2@340nm、1.12W/m2@420nm.575 W/m2@300~800nm.

② Irradiation dose:The cumulative amount of radiation energy received per unit area on the surface of a sample over a period of time, known as the radiation dose=Radiation power * irradiation time;

③ Indoor lighting:Adopting wavelength reduction technologySimulating sunlight filtered through glass using a filter with spectral irradiance below 320nm

④ Outdoor light:To simulate direct natural exposure,Radiant light sources must be filtered to provide a spectral energy distribution similar to that of sunlight on Earth,

⑤ Black label temperature:Black-Standard Thermometer (BST)

also called Insulation blackboard temperatureinsulated black panel temperature , Measure the characteristic value of the surface temperature of the sample using an insulated blackboard thermometer, which consists of a black painted stainless steel plate and a resistance temperature sensor embedded with insulation material (white PVDF, polyvinylidene fluoride)

⑥ Blackboard temperature:Black-Panel Thermometer(BPT)

Also known as non insulated black panel temperature Measure the characteristic value of the surface temperature of the sample using a non insulated black panel thermometer, which consists of a black painted stainless steel panel and an additional resistance temperature sensor

Either BPT or BST is sufficient. -Generally, BST is about 10% larger than BPT

☆ BST is mainly used to measure the surface temperature of insulation materials

3. Xenon lamp aging test

In 1989, the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) released two standards for testing the weather resistance of automotive materials. At the time of SAE J1885 "Accelerated Exposure Test for Automotive Interior Parts of Water Cooled Xenon Lamp", SAEJ1960 and J1885 were beneficial for automotive manufacturers to unify testing conditions. However, these aging testing standards are based on the construction of specific models of equipment, specifying two types of equipment from a certain manufacturer. The requirements for standard specified equipment have two main consequences: hindering technological development and making equipment manufacturers less motivated to develop and produce more accurate or practical aging test chambers;

b. Forming a monopoly, resulting in testing equipment prices and operating costs. The automotive industry is in many fields around the world, but it lags behind in adopting performance based aging testing standards. In the late 1990s The SAE Association began to recognize this deficiency in aging testing standards and ultimately released the following three new aging standards.

SAE J2527 "Accelerated Exposure Test for Xenon Lamp Automotive Exterior Components" replaced J1960, released in October 2003. SAE J2412 "Xenon Lamp Automotive Interior Accelerated Exposure Test" replaced J1885, released in February 2004. SAE J2413 'Method for Testing the Performance of New Xenon Lamp Testing Equipment', a method for verifying whether xenon lamp aging equipment can run a specified accelerated exposure testing program, was released in December 2003.

xenon lamp aging:It is a test that simulates full sunlight spectrum. Xenon lamp aging test is currently a reliability test that simulates artificial climate and can simulate an artificial climate test that approximates nature in a short period of time.
