Rapid mycotoxin analyzer to prevent the harm of mycotoxins in feed
Date: 2023-08-09Read: 10

Fungal toxins are toxic and harmful substances produced by molds or fungi. During the breeding process, a series of digestive tract problems such as adenomyosis in commercial broiler chickens, slow growth rate in fattening pigs, diarrhea in nursing piglets, decreased egg production rate in laying hens, and substandard milk quality are often encountered. The series of problems related to 'illness enters through the mouth' are all related to the feed materials we use, and the main cause is the harm caused by mycotoxins.

1、 Types of mycotoxins:

Common fungal toxins include aflatoxin, aflatoxin, ochratoxin, zearalenone, t2 toxin, vomitoxin, etc. Among them, zearalenone, vomitoxin, t2 toxin, and aflatoxin belong to field mycotoxins, indicating that these crops have been contaminated with these types of mycotoxins while growing in the field; However, ochratoxin and aflatoxin belong to the category of stored mycotoxins, and when feed is stored in poor storage environments such as high temperature and humidity, it is easy to contaminate these mycotoxins.

We must pay attention to controlling the fungal toxins caused by field pollution during the planting, harvesting, and drying processes of crops. However, under current conditions, it is difficult for us to control these processes, resulting in high levels of these toxins in crops. For fungal toxins that are prone to contamination during storage, we can control the temperature and humidity, and use fungicides to inhibit or kill the mold, in order to achieve the effect of controlling fungal toxins.

2、 The hazards of mycotoxins:

The hazards of aflatoxin: Aflatoxin can cause subcutaneous bleeding in the bursa and thymus of poultry, decreased resistance, vaccine failure, smaller eggs, lower yolk weight, and reduced fertilization and hatching rates. Causes slow growth, decreased feed efficiency, jaundice, rough fur, hypoalbuminemia, liver cancer, and immune suppression in livestock.

The hazards of zearalenone: zearalenone has a similar structure to estrogen and has estrogenic effects. Pigs are most sensitive to zearalenone and can be converted into alpha zearalenone in their bodies. The estrogenic effect of alpha zearalenone is more than 100 times stronger than that of estrogen.

The hazards of vomiting toxin: Vomiting toxin, named after its ability to cause vomiting in pigs, can easily cause animals such as pigs, chickens, ducks, geese to refuse to eat and have a decreased appetite, leading to reduced food intake and affecting production efficiency such as growth, egg production, and milk production.

3、 Mold toxin solution:

1. Source control: Ensure the quality of feed raw materials, control the storage temperature, humidity and other conditions of raw materials.

2. Inhibition of mold: Add fungicides or bacteriostatic agents to feed materials and feed. In areas and seasons with high humidity, or when there is severe contamination of fungal toxins in this batch of raw materials, fungicides must be used to control mold growth.

3. Adsorption of fungal toxins: Adding fungal toxin adsorbents to feed has a wide range of adsorption effects on various fungal toxins in the feed. However, when choosing fungal toxin adsorbents, attention should be paid to their absorption of nutrients, otherwise products that also adsorb nutrients may cause symptoms such as deficiency of certain nutrients in livestock and poultry. In addition, due to the strong adsorption effect of adsorbents in acidic environments (stomach), but easy desorption of toxins in alkaline environments (intestine), the net adsorption rate is an important reference indicator when choosing adsorbents.

4. Eliminate inspection and control of raw materials, reduce the sales and feeding of moldy feed

The CSY-YG701 mycotoxin rapid analyzer from Shenfen Instrument can quickly and quantitatively detect the content of aflatoxin, T2 toxin, vomitoxin, ochratoxin, fumarate toxin, and zearalenone in food such as grains, feed, cereal, edible oil, and seasonings.

In summary, the harm caused by mycotoxins to livestock and poultry farming must be taken seriously, and the control of mycotoxins is necessary to reduce their impact on production.
