Flow meter is one of the important instruments in industrial measurement. With the development of industry, the accuracy and range requirements for flow measurement are becoming increasingly high. In order to adapt to various uses, various types of flow meters have been introduced and widely used in industries such as oil and gas, petrochemicals, water treatment, food and beverage, pharmaceuticals, energy, metallurgy, pulp and paper, and building materials.
In modern society, the level of development of the manufacturing industry is the main indicator of a country's comprehensive strength, and high-precision and information-based industries are the vanguard of a country's manufacturing industry, which determines the direction and degree of development of the entire country's industry. In the past decade, as a high-precision industry, China's instrument and meter industry has become the second largest instrument and meter production country in Asia after Japan, and has initially formed an industrial system with a relatively complete range of product categories, a certain production scale, and development capabilities. In reality, the variety, quantity, performance, and quality of measuring instruments and meters in China are far from meeting the needs of practical work. Most products have low technological content, single functions, poor stability and reliability, and urgently need to be updated and replaced. Therefore, the industry urgently needs transformation and upgrading.
According to research, approximately 89.0% of flow meters currently use the mAHART communication protocol, as flow meters using this communication protocol have lower installation difficulty and operational requirements than those using fieldbus protocol, and introducing fieldbus systems is also a significant cost for users. However, as industry users continue to improve their automation level, they hope to obtain more information from traffic measurement besides traffic data, such as diagnostic information and status detection, which rely on fieldbus support for data transmission. Moreover, manufacturers such as Siemens and Elmer are actively promoting flow measurement technology based on fieldbus protocols. I believe this will undoubtedly promote the application prospects of fieldbus protocol flow meters in various industries.
