The development of the CNC gantry mobile drilling machine is characterized by its new design concept and the trend of modern machining. Various milling head accessories, represented by two coordinate swing angle milling heads, have become the main means of completing high-speed and composite machining. They have wider process performance, higher power, and stronger rigidity, which is a major breakthrough in the development of floor milling and boring machines.
The main key component of the CNC gantry mobile drilling machine is the spindle box, which is installed on the side of the column. Some manufacturers also use a double column thermal symmetrical structure, placing the spindle box in the middle of the column. This structure is characterized by rigidity, balance, and good heat dissipation performance, providing reliable high-speed operation of the spindle box. However, the double column structure is not easy to maintain and care for, which is the reason why there are not many manufacturers using it today. The movement of the spindle box is often driven by a motor to stop the transmission of the ball screw, which is a central transmission installation of the spindle drive. Static support is often used, and the ball screw is driven by a servo motor to stop the drive. Due to the increasing spindle speed and rapid temperature rise, many manufacturers have adopted oil mist cooling instead of oil cooling to better control spindle temperature rise and improve accuracy.
There are two main types of spindle systems, one is the traditional boring bar telescopic structure, which has the characteristics of boring deep holes and high-power cutting; Another type is the modern high-speed electric spindle structure, which has the advantages of high speed, operation, and high precision.
