KNAUER's new desktop IJM NanoScaler system is designed specifically for the development of lipid nanoparticles - enabling scientists to select appropriate process parameters for active pharmaceutical formulations containing lipid nanoparticles.
The manufacturing of IJM NanoScaler takes into account research and development as well as laboratory scale production.
NanoScaler is equipped with KNAUER's collision jet mixing (IJM) technology for lipid nanoparticle production, allowing researchers to determine the encapsulation conditions for its mRNA based therapy and then scale up the process to run on larger GMP compliant collision jet mixing (IJM) devices.
NanoScaler is specifically designed for low sample volumes to avoid wasting valuable raw materials. Its small footprint means it can be stably placed on the workbench in the research and development laboratory. The system is equipped with five different mixers to help researchers determine which conditions will lead to the appropriate process for nucleotide encapsulation. In addition, researchers can customize mixing devices as needed, benefiting from the flexibility of system settings.
The packaging process can be remotely controlled through software, which can run from traditional PCs, laptops, or tablets.

IJM NanoScaler allows testing of the following key parameters during the encapsulation process of lipid nanoparticles:
Mixed unit-Five different mixers, combined with customizable mixing units, can determine the process conditions required to achieve maximum efficiency, optimal particle size, and uniform particle size distribution.
Mixing flow rate and ratio-Determine how the specific physicochemical properties of lipid nanoparticles are affected by mixed flow, in order to identify which flow rates and ratios can achieve optimal encapsulation of lipid nanoparticles.
Lipid formula-NanoScaler can be used to test new lipid formulations, such as lipids for embedded antibodies used in targeted drugs. The conditions required for lipid nanoparticle encapsulation can be determined before large-scale production of experimental therapies.
Dilution plan-The liquid flow path of NanoScaler can be configured to include or bypass the dilution step after the formation of lipid nanoparticles, allowing scientists to accurately produce formulations at the desired concentration.
