The temperature of NTC thermistor (negative temperature coefficient) changes inversely with its resistance, and the resistance decreases with increasing temperature, and vice versa. NTC, in addition to being used alone, is often manufactured into temperature sensors of various shapes through secondary processing, or connected in series with circuits as surge current limiters. They are commonly used for temperature control and indication, as well as current suppression. Common materials used in its construction include oxides of materials such as nickel, manganese, copper, iron, and cobalt. Some are also made of silicon or germanium. Epoxy resin encapsulation is the most common type of thermistor used in daily use.
