Membrane separation technology forces compressed air through hollow fiber membranes, selectively permeating nitrogen, oxygen, carbon dioxide, water vapor, and trace inert gases according to different diffusion coefficients. The diffusion coefficient of nitrogen in hollow cellulose membranes is slower than that of other gas components. Other gases flow out of the cellulose membrane, leaving only nitrogen in the membrane, thus achieving separation.
