bic-tx8000

The British BIC-TX8000 is a handheld advanced graphic TDR cable fault locator (TDR time domain reflectometer). For cable fault location and fault testing analysis, the TX8000 provides complete functionality, high performance, and flagship specifications.

The TX8000 cable fault locator has a range of 6 kilometers and 11 ranges, with a primary range of 7 meters. The TX8000 is CE certified and features a sturdy casing protection with a waterproof rating of IP67. It is also drop resistant and has fall protection. The TX8000 is designed specifically for outdoor use and is compact and lightweight, allowing for one handed operation. The TX8000 features a large 3.5-inch QVGA color display with clear information display, and a backlit keyboard that can be used in low light environments.

The scan hold function can lock the fault waveform on the screen for further inspection, or easily identify intermittent faults in scan mode. By using the waveform hold and compare function, the current waveform can be displayed and compared with the new waveform. The user variable gain function allows for the amplification of small events on the waveform for clearer identification. When using dual cursor, each cursor will provide its length measurement value, and the distance of the fault can be determined by the difference between the cursor. To assist in identifying faults, multiple fault waveform types can be overlaid on the displayed fault waveform for easier identification.

TX8000 can test all metal cables with cable impedance settings of 25, 50, 75, 100, or 120 ohms, VP settings ranging from 1-99%, or in feet or meters per microsecond. Audio line tracing can be used to track faulty cables, and oscillating audio can be distinguished by line tracing probes to identify faulty cables.

As a core instrument, TX8000 provides intuitive graphical menu display, including Chinese language menu, which is simple and easy to use. The TX8000 weighs only 500 grams and is easy to carry, making it the best instrument for engineers to test and locate cable faults on site.

Product design can be widely used for civilian and military scientific research, daily cable inspection of system equipment, electrical wholesalers and cable distributors, electrical installation companies, maintenance personnel of manufacturing factories, construction workers, and more.

Screen display of a typical impedance anomaly fault

The vertical light marking line can move left and right along the cable waveform to track the fault point on the cable. Pressing the left and right directional buttons can determine the distance of the event point. The cursor is positioned at the starting point of the event fault point and the distance to the fault point is displayed in the lower left corner of the screen.

The fault display in the above figure shows a low impedance fault at 64 meters, with a negative peak waveform; At 129 meters, there is a high impedance fault; The cable end is open and the waveform is a large positive peak, which is used to determine the length of the cable end and the entire cable as 180 meters.
