SF6 gas is currently used as an insulation medium, especially in the fields of high voltage and ultra-high voltage, and its technological maturity and economic feasibility have not been replaced. SF6 gas greenhouse effect is one of the six greenhouse gases with clear emission restrictions. Its GWP value is over 20000 times that of CO2. SF6 gas has an extremely long atmospheric lifespan, and once leaked, it can remain stable in the atmosphere for over 3000 years, indicating that its greenhouse effect is cumulative and irreversible. SF6 gas decomposition produces a series of toxic and corrosive decomposition products such as sulfur fluoride SF4, S2F2, and sulfuryl fluoride SOF2. When maintenance personnel enter the gas chamber where discharge faults have occurred or recover gas, inadequate protection can pose a serious threat to personal safety. These decomposition products are also corrosive and can corrode the insulation materials and metal components inside the equipment, affecting its long-term reliability. Therefore, the "Electricity Safety Work Regulations" (for power plants and substations) specifically stipulate that the distribution equipment room equipped with SF6 equipment must ensure that the SF6 concentration is less than 1000ppm.
