Stress induced cracking refers to the process in which rocks or other materials rupture and form cracks under external stress. This phenomenon is of great significance in geological engineering and oil and gas development. For example, in oil and gas reservoirs, artificial fracturing can increase permeability and thus enhance resource recovery.

The evaluation of stress induced cracking is aimed at comprehensively understanding the formation mechanism, propagation law, and impact on engineering structures or reservoir performance of cracks under real stress conditions. This evaluation helps optimize fracturing design, improve fracture conductivity, reduce engineering risks, and provide scientific basis for geological hazard prediction and unconventional resource development. Through the systematic study of stress induced seam making, it is possible to achieve the maximization of resource utilization and the optimization of engineering safety.
