Rock fracturing refers to the process of creating cracks in the rock mass (i.e. surrounding rock) around tunnels, mines, or other underground engineering through human or natural means. This process is usually aimed at improving the permeability of the rock mass, reducing stress concentration, or optimizing the stability of engineering structures.
By evaluating the formation of cracks in the surrounding rock, the propagation path and distribution characteristics of cracks under stress can be understood, thereby optimizing the design of tunnel support structures, fracturing schemes, and improving construction efficiency and safety; In oil and gas development or mineral extraction, rock fracturing can significantly enhance the permeability of reservoirs, thereby improving resource recovery. Evaluating the conductivity and distribution range of cracks can help develop more scientific mining strategies; The formation of cracks in the surrounding rock may cause problems such as rock instability or ground subsidence. Through systematic evaluation, potential risks can be predicted and corresponding measures can be taken to reduce the occurrence of geological disasters.
