For generators, conducting DC tests can sensitively and effectively detect stator winding end defects and gap defects. It has become a commonly used method in insulation testing of generator windings. Due to the large current conducted through the water collection pipe of large water-cooled generators, and depending on the water quality, the current generally ranges from 20 to 150mA under test voltage.
